Focus list and market update for Thursday May 31st
posted by daytraderockstar
May 30, 2012 11:53 pm
As I write this the S&P futures are chopping between 1306 and 1309 basically flat on the session, Europe opens at 3am est and that's we will probably get our first clue to market direction tomorrow. News out of Europe continues to be the catalyst, and I would expect all eyes shift to the jobs report on Friday. Daily charts are still holding onto there short relief rally attempt, But we could see a break down one last time before a move back up. I cover a nice selection of stocks both short set ups and long. Will be adding $LULU to the short list soon and $AMAT could be setting up for a move back up. Those of 2 of the 12 outlined for tomorrow. Members can view video under the view more link.
Radar has to call for Caution as no real signal is given and the near term news factors keep the market on edge. For shot on a market call here..Fridays numbers if bad will give the market the expected drop, but very short lived and a reversal will ensue. As for tomorrow watch the news and trade light.
Thanks

This Week's High Probability Watch List Has Been Uploaded to the Site
posted by daytraderockstar
May 25, 2012 9:33 pm
This week we launch the High Probability Set Ups (HPS) section of the site that has been merged with the 10 for 1000 Watchlist. This means the alerts will be more automated. You will be able to check the real time charts, how they are triggering and see the complete trading plan for the current set up.
When a HPS index stock sets up, you will get an alert via email of the levels to look at for entries and profit potentials along with stops. For traders who trade along in the chat room, you will also get notified when an Index stock approaches a level where a buy or sell trigger could be triggered.
We have programmed most of the core of the HPS methodology into the code of the site. This will give you a unbiased low risk entry with no guess work involved. HPS is a great foundation to trade from and I am happy to finally add it to valued membership portion of the site. Even though thousands of dollars have gone into building the HPS section I want to keep the price free for members of Daytradingradio.com as we continue to add value for the core membership. The HPS section will be opened up on Tuesday and please understand it will continue to evolve with many more features to come. SMS text messages for alerts, education, member webinars and many other features that are being worked on now.
This weeks watch list video can be seen here and I go into more detail on the launch and the set up for the week. http://daytradingradio.com/10for1000
At High Probability Setups, it is my goal to bring you the cream of the crop when it comes to stock trade set ups. We stay away from lesser known, more speculative companies to help ensure a high probability situation. We focus only on the highest quality stocks with solid businesses behind them. It is our philosophy that over the long run, trading better known companies, in high probability setups, is the way to consistent profits.
One last note
Happy Memorial day!
May we never forget those who died defending our freedom and giving us the opportunities we have today.

Market Radar for May 25th
posted by daytraderockstar
May 24, 2012 10:30 pm
I feel the education here is the important and even though we are heading into a holiday weekend, I have a slight bias to the upside tomorrow on light volume. How to read stochastics is a part of this video that is easy to understand and a core aspect of my analysis style. You will see the daily charts tend to have fewer oversold and overbought stochastics, but the ones that are formed, are usually a great timing tool for looking for trend changes. Enjoy

This Weeks 10 for 1000 Watch List Has Been Uploaded
posted by daytraderockstar
May 19, 2012 10:12 pm
We left off Friday with the market selling on fear of Greece leaving the Euro-zone. Everyone seemed to be preparing for a Greek exit. If this happens or not is a guess I find hard to make. But I know the effect it is having on the markets. Some food for thought. Technically the Dow made recent highs on May 1st and we are going into the 21st day from that high. We haven't had the bounce and failure that completes a Dow bear market confirmation. But some might just take the break of the recent lows to be a technical signal for a change of trend. And the truth is, it's a pretty valid argument. But I am still expecting to see a pretty severe bounce back .
What I am mad at myself for, is not always following the rules I set forth for myself. Recognizing the turbulent and indecisive times is not hard. It's all over the news and on the charts. Cutting back on size and taking risk off the table is more important than trying to guess on market bounces and bottoms. I am mad because i didn't embrace the downside for the last 2 weeks. But then again, it's been 2 weeks only. One of the most important rules I know, is to trade with the trend and the trend for me is easily defined by a set of indicators and tools, but it is really easier then that. Just look at the price and direction of the chart. Trade the direction the overall markets are trading and your success rate will go up simple. Trying to find a bottom or think that something is oversold will lead to trouble over the long run.
For me it's time to regroup and start hitting singles again. We begin this week were we left off last week, with the fear of the unknown. GREECE will have a continued overhanging effect on the markets until there is some type of resolution. I am stating the obvious because I have seen situations like this play out in the markets.
Getting back to Monday. Because of the growing chatter of preparations of a Greek exit on Friday, we watched the markets sell off hard into the close. This leaves open a huge chance for a relief rally early next week. I would expect this to start Sunday night Monday European open remember that's If we get a reprieve from news from Europe this weekend.
Because we go into this week as we left last I am placing a Caution on the Market Radar.
This week's Watch List is the first one that has no defined triggers and I explain why in the video, But there are some great return set ups ZNH has come back to a HPS set up that has worked every time. Also like the pre earnings trade in NTAP and a great list of shorts that are just rolling over.

"Market Radar" New Feature of Daytradingradio.com
posted by daytraderockstar
May 16, 2012 9:39 pm
Market radar will be a new feature I will be bringing to Day Trading Radio. It will consist of a market call on specific days where I see a convergence of important indicators we follow here at DTR. This alert will be released on a need to know basis. Meaning, if I see a potential for a high probability move up or down or even if we have a very uncertain situation playing out, I will do my best to post the update here. The alert will come in 7 different types outlined below
If you're a follower of Day Trading Radio, you know that I work with a duel stochastic indicator that times the futures with incredible accuracy. I also use a methodology called the HPS or High probability Setups that consist of pattern recognition, Trend lines, Short and longer time frame stochastics. I also take into consideration certain candle sticks combined with volume. All this can be used across different trading vehicles. This signal released will be based on the S&P 500.
Here is what you will be seeing..
This one up green arrow represents a slight bias to the upside. This represents at least one indicator lining up to the buy side. It's a lower probability set up.
This is just the opposite but a bias to the downside
This 2 Up green arrow represents a set up with at least 2 indicators lining up with a buy signal. These signals needed to be weighted with current market sentiment and if there is any positive momentum to the markets to give this a higher probability signal.NOTE: Momentum plays an important part in markets, in a trending market we experience consolidation days and short term down moves these signals will only be released under the optimal conditions
Opposite to the upside signal, but usually momentum and signals confirming a move lower.
A Three Arrow Up signal will be the strongest signal and this takes into account various conditions which I will detail on the site dedicated to the key to the market radar. But for now, know it represents a multiple indicator set up based on multiple time frames, Pattern Recognition and at least 3 indicators converging in a buy signal.NOTE: Timing the markets is hard when you try to time a bottom or a top. These periods could play out over multiple days. Momentum in the direction of a trade adds a lot to the signal and will be added to the equation. There will be times when a signal will go out and the markets will go into a consolidation period that could last a couple days as the markets puts in a bottom or a top. That signal will stay active in those periods or if signal changes.
Opposite of the 3 Arrow up signal
If the market is not trending or uncertain it's easy to over trade and get chopped up. Discipline in knowing when to protect capital is the most important factor to self preservation in the markets. You don't have to trade every day. Caution is a signal when the markets are unstable and the future is uncertain. This signal appears when there is over hanging news that is disrupting the normal flow and causing the markets to give false signals. Remember, there isn't any wrong signal the markets are always right. But if there is something that is moving the markets out of it's normal boundaries and signals start to fail, then we have to be ultra cautious and cut back on both trading and size. I am a big proponent of trading small. In this current environment, I like to test the waters with smaller entries and when the market gets back into a "rhythm" then its time to make the money.Look for the first installment of Market Radar coming up.

This Week's 10 for 1000 Watch List has been released
posted by daytraderockstar
May 12, 2012 11:09 pm
Sunday we will have more news out of Greece, this could play a big part in how we open the week. The market left off Friday starting to break down out of a bear flag. This flag is a text book example of what to look for in a bear flag. I placed a detailed image under here to illustrate. I would expect this flag to play out to the down side Monday and a better chance for a bounce back rally starting Tuesday. But I default back to any breaking news Sunday and to keep an eye on the futures here Sunday night (futures open 6:00pm est). This watch list has some great set ups. I feel the better way to short the market is with the pro-short ETF's

Stocks to Watch Tomorrow CAT, BHI, CLF, CIEN
posted by daytraderockstar
May 07, 2012 11:22 pm
4 great set ups tomorrow as we go into the second day of the week. Todays strength and rebound was encouraging, but not as convincing as i would like, That makes tomorrow a more telling day then today. We did close above the head and shoulders neck line that i am watching closely on a closing basis. The 1366 area is important and going into tomorrow I have an upward bias to the markets. What would be a sign for confirmation of a downward trend? A break down under 1356 and lets watch the volume too that will also be a tell on if this is something to take heed of. Slightly bullish going into tomorrow but taking smaller positions.

This Week's 10 for 1000 Watch List has been released
posted by daytraderockstar
May 05, 2012 8:07 pm
The first part of the watch list breaks down to the core of the HPS methodology. And it is perfect timing for this video as the markets in a tricky balancing act going into next week. We have the perfectly formed Head and Shoulders pattern formed on the S&P and the apparent break down of the markets confirming the pattern. We have not yet broken the neckline and short term we are oversold. France's Presidential elections are Sunday and results could effect the futures going into Monday morning. I have no opinion or guess on how the election is going to effect the markets in the short term, but I do realize the markets have the proverbial carrot hanging in front of its nose in the form of QE3. I feel there is an invisible support area because of it. That leads us to this week and the line in the sand. The video is very educational and in these uncertain days ahead I stress caution until we get a clearer picture.
There are 2 videos this weekend one is the market out look for this week the other is the watch list please join me in our forum if you have any insight or predictions on where this week will end. We have a great new forum for members and feel free to post your charts and video
