Day Trading Radio’s new show, Macro Market Mayhem starts this Sunday 29^th July at 5pm New York / 10pm London time. 

Your British host, Athen will review the market moving news of the week, what it all means, what could come next and most importantly, how to trade it!

The show will have a Forex & Futures focus and will aim to help traders navigate the links between the different world markets. Traders of all experiences are invited to get involved, ask questions and learn how to go about expanding their trading playbooks.

This week will feature a currency market primer for those less familiar with currency markets and our focus topic will be the so called “fiscal cliff” and how it could be traded. There will also be a chance for general questions about currency trading.

Are the markets rigged? Gamed? Macro Market Mayhem will cut through the guff and get to the good stuff every Sunday an hour before futures trading opens.

This week brings with it a lot of events that could and will move the most hitting mid week Wednesday The European Central bank (ECB)  in the morning, then we have the U.S Federal Reserve (The Fed) at 2;15. Expectations are high going into these meetings/announcements. 2 questions need to be asked going into this.

1. Has the best case scenario been price into the market?

and

2. What is the best case scenario?

Just like everyone else, we can all guess on the outcome. But my whole thesis and HPS methodology would  be discounted do to the fact I can't control what happens Wednesday. I can gamble a bit and I can make my call on how I think it will play out. But I have been tightening up the discipline and focus over the past month and now I feel even more motivate to let things play out, and just continue to wait for the next HPS  and trade. It. This might not be exciting and could get a bit boring, But it will continue to outperform. 

I pretty much discussed on the video how the cards are on the table it's time to see if the ECB is bluffing, Not expecting much from the Fed this month, but could come earlier then the Sept meeting. This week rides on the ECB. Friday we have the Non Farm payrolls and of course the carrot will be swinging after this report. Meaning bad news is good news for who are on the wall of worry.

Oh by the way I expect the market to move up into the Wednesday announcements. I expect the ECB to announce some measure in stimulus and Bound Buying (SMP) after this well back to the same game trade the chart, each daily and 60 min stochastic cross over has forcasted a decent directional trend to trade. Right now we have a positive daily cross plus a lot of underlying stocks in a very bullish patterns. Up early in the week.

The underlying trend line held today, and as technicals continue to line up for further upside off of this morning gap down. But the overall pattern and feeling forcasts the negative action in the markets. Again if the 60 minute fails and crosses back over to the downside I will respect the down channel that could be forming.  

You here me talk about the proverbial carrot that dangles in front of the market. Well a move above 1380 will make that theory very credible. As Spain appears to be the next headline event We still hold this slight bias to the upside. Makes me wonder if we do break down will there be an event that pushes us over the edge. Maybe it will be $AAPL earnings tomorrow. Either way tomorrow is a key day. Don't want to miss it.

The Bottom Stock is PLCE one of the stocks on the HPS watch List this weekend.

High Probability Watch List Updated for This Week

This week's watch list is epic! The Return of $YHOO and 2 other "Kick Ass Trades of the Week."  I also added a great under $10.00 set up and discussed trading ideas in $PBR, $DE and a short in $TZOO. Oh yeah this week's watch list has a great short too. Last week, bias was up for the first part of the week and down at the end- Mostly based of the 60 min chart. On Friday we again got oversold on the 60 min chart. But we have some longer term overbought indicators starting to flash red along with a very bearish pattern on the daily. We have a good selection of earnings out next week:

Today I kicked off Ultimate Trader Showdown by announcing the traders in the first 8 person single elimination tournament.  This tourney is part one of the process of "Win RockStar's Money"  A brand new segment of Day Trading Radio where I let members of the DTR community trade against me using my money. No risk on their part. I assume all the risk but they have to beat me.  The 8 below will battle it out over the next few days until there is one left. That person will have a funded Vankar account equal to Daytraderrockstar's. The match will run usually 2-4 hours and at the end of time period the trader with the highest total profit will be declared the winner and walk away with half the profits they made. 

Anyone can compete if they are a member of the DTRS community, All you have to do is get to the top of the tournament bracket. The first tournament starts tomorrow at 9:30am est and each tourney will have 8 traders competing for the #1 spot after that spot is filled a "Win RockStar's Money" match will take place.

This week's Watch List and Outlook

First of all this is a great watch list!  Keeping the market direction at our backs we go into this week with many potential catalyst that can move this market in either direction. I always want to have a clear directional trade in mind when putting a stock down on the watch list. I don't want say things could go either way or I don't want to put that big caution sign disclaimer going into a new week of trading. But that's just the way this summer is playing out. Bernanke speaking Tuesday and Wednesday, Earnings season is kicking off, Euro fears are still the top headline, and we have the "Fiscal Cliff" fear mongers starting to make waves. Watch for the Fiscal Cliff to over take the Euro fears in the up coming months. All this spells uncertainty in the markets and that spells caution. As a Technical Trader I try to block out a lot of the chatter in the markets. But it has no doubt effected my position size over the last few months. Right now the markets seemed to have excepted the Euro crisis and has probably priced in a lot of the earnings expectations (which is lower then expected). 

The best thing to do is stick to the technicals cause they are painting a picture that is clear to see. This week's Bias is up based on the daily cross over, but any failure will be an even bigger signal to the downside.

Getting the research out early this weekend. Great set ups and the return of the Kick Ass Trade of the Week. Top 3 set ups identified in video. First part of Video a very basic tip that I even find forgetting sometimes, but will keep you in the game time and time again. Most time its the simple things that we look over, trying to find the secret blend of complicated formulas to give us an edge in the markets. 

Identify the Time frame you want to trade, are you a scalper? (less then a day) A short term swing trader? ( 2-5  days) longer term swing trader? (7-14 days) Or an Investor (Longer then 14 days)

A. Identify the Trend

B. Outline the range of the trend (channels)

C. Stay with the trend until it fails

D. Be patient 

E. Stochastics as a momentum indicator is great but you should wait for the signal (crossover), or you could      waste time in a consolidation or worse. 

F. The the Signal gets to choppy or fails it's ok to wait for the next one. You will find that stocks usually stay in a trend relative to there time frame for a while, The key is not chasing and spotting the signal as it confirms.

G. Review all your trades and see if you applied the rules. For the trades that didn't work can you identify why? 

H. Have a great Weekend
